STUDENT SUPPORT

In order to support students from the bottom 20% of household income groups in Turkey, Atatürk University provides a wide range of scholarships, aid mechanisms, and health services. These programs are designed to ensure equal opportunities in education and to help students complete their academic journey successfully, regardless of their socio-economic background.


Scholarships

  • Financial Support Scholarships
    These scholarships are offered to students from families in the lowest income quintile. Cash support is provided according to financial need, funded by the Atatürk University budget, the Atatürk University Development Foundation, municipal partners, private donors, and philanthropic initiatives.

  • Special Support Scholarships
    Targeted programs are in place for female students requiring financial support, as well as for students in need of social assistance. These include bursaries, food support, and housing assistance.

  • Academic Achievement Scholarships
    Students who achieve top scores in the national university entrance exam and choose Atatürk University benefit from comprehensive scholarships. These include monthly stipends, free housing in KYK or university dormitories, and meal support.

  • Athlete Scholarships
    Students who represent Atatürk University in sports competitions receive financial support and free meal allowances during their education.

  • Meal Support
    One free daily meal is provided in university cafeterias through the University Meal Scholarship program, ensuring nutritional support for disadvantaged students.

  • Disabled Student Discounts
    Students with officially recognized disabilities can benefit from tuition fee reductions and additional social support mechanisms.

  • Children of Martyrs and Veterans
    In accordance with national policy, children of martyrs and veterans are exempt from tuition fees and provided with priority access to social aid services.


Health Support Services

Atatürk University provides health services free of charge to students in need through its Medical Faculty Hospital, Faculty of Dentistry clinics, and the University Health and Counseling Center. These facilities meet routine medical, dental, and psychological needs, ensuring that no student is deprived of healthcare during their studies.

Every year, assessments are conducted to determine the needs of disadvantaged students. Financial and medical support are then provided according to these criteria, ensuring continuous assistance throughout the entire period of study. This holistic approach guarantees both access to and completion of higher education, reflecting Atatürk University’s commitment to equality and inclusiveness.


Support for International Students

In line with the regulations of the Turkish Council of Higher Education (YÖK), international students are required to pay tuition fees at enrollment. However, Atatürk University ensures that students from low-income and middle-income countries are not disadvantaged by providing access to a broad range of scholarships and aid.

  • Financial Support Scholarships: Provided for international students from the lowest 20% of income groups in their home countries, funded by the Development Foundation and private donors.

  • Disabled Student Discounts: International students with disabilities are entitled to tuition fee reductions in accordance with their medical reports.

  • Tuition Fee Discounts: International students from low-income countries who qualify for scholarships may receive reduced tuition fees.

  • Graduate Research Assistant Scholarships: Tuition exemptions are granted to international graduate students working as research assistants at Atatürk University.

  • Refugee and War Victim Students: Students from war-affected regions (e.g., Syria, Ukraine, Sudan, Palestine) are given the right to transfer or enroll as guest students.

  • Council of Higher Education (YÖK) Scholarships: International students from developing countries admitted to Turkish public universities can also benefit from YÖK-funded bursaries, with quotas allocated for Atatürk University.
